Tapovan in Nashik is a little away from Panchavati. Tapovan is where Ram and Sita are supposed to have had their hut chitrakoot, during exile. This is also supposed to be where Sita was abducted and taken to Sri Lanka. But mythology aside, Tapovan is at a confluence of two tributaries and makes a pretty picture. The fruits are sweeter and the air is fresher at Tapovan. Tapovan is also an important point on the route of the Kumbha Mela, India's great religious conference which repeats every 13 years at a place.
