Tripuradevi is a small village in the Kumaon Himalayas in Uttarakhand. The nearest railway stations are Kathgodam or Haldwani. Kathgodam is about 275 kilometers from New Delhi and usually takes about 6 to 8 hours by bus. Several Jeeps run from the bus stand in Kathgodam to Tripuradevi and the journey takes about 8 to 10 hours because of the hilly terrain. It is also possible to hire a taxi but that can be expensive. There is a small market in a neighbouring village called Berinag, where one can get a few local snacks, chai (Tea) and some grocery items. A few walking trails lead you to several small villages like Sukna, digoli and chankana. The local people are extremely friendly. Winters are very cold and it does snow sometimes. Summers are pleasant. It is best recommended to go during the winters for the best views of the Nanda Devi peak.
