Harischandragad is a very beautiful hill fort . The hill fort lies in the Western Ghats in the Ahmednagar District and is about 150 kilometers from Mumbai. One can take a bus from Kalyan to Khubi phata and reach the base village â?? Khireshwar. The trek is not tough but there are some patches which can be a bit slippery if this trek is done in the monsoon season. It is a bit dangerous but amazingly beautiful in the monsoons. There are some caves near the Harischandreshwar temple which can accommodate about 20 people but usually a lot more sleep in caves. There are many spots for camping. The most famous spots are the Konkan Kada cliff, the Taramati peak which is the highest point on this hill fort and the Kedareshwar caves. Many people have mentioned spotting leopards but we werenâ??t as lucky. There are several routes that one may take while going down depending on if one wants to go to Mumbai or to Pune. It takes at least two days to see the fort and other sights. One can also do this trek after the monsoons as the whole valley is filled with beautiful wild flowers everywhere.
