While Alchi is otherwise famous for its monastery, its the little lane that leads to the monastery that is more exciting to stop by. In whatever little space that is available, on either side of the road is a little bazaar that is laid out and run by a group of ladies selling few of the most beautiful souvenirs that you can carry back home. From prayer flags, wheels and bowls to masks, puppets, statues and stone work ware. The best part being the aged women who politely and most lovingly convince you to buy from them and readily agree to reduce the price for you. While most will over look this bazaar as it doesn't find a place in the must visit list, its definitely one of the most quaint little markets that is a pleasure to shop at.
