More than a thousand years ago, a Jain sage named Kundakunda Acharya stayed here and prompted the birth of this Jain holy place. The hill has a 17th century temple on top dedicated to Thirthankara. It is about 80 km from Shimoga on NH13. Beautiful Temple with an amazing view of the Shimoga valley below. If you go a little early in the morning you can see the clouds swirling below you and the mist rolls in towards you like the hand of destiny.
