National Highway 20, Baijnath, Kangra
The Baijnath temple is in the town of Baijnath in the kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Baij means physician and nath means lord, hence the name means â??the Lord of the physiciansâ??. Baijnath is about 50 kilometers from kangra and 16 kilometers from palampur. The temple complex offers stunning views of the dhauladhar ranges. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is very old. It is believed to be more than a thousand years old. There are beautiful carvings and idols all around the walls of the temple. The most famous of the carvings are that of the dancing Ganesha, depicted with six arms and kalyan sunder, depicting the marriage of Shiva and Parvati. The best time to go is during the winters when the sky is clear and one gets clear views of the dhauladhar mountain ranges. This trip can be combined with the neighbouring Bir and Billing villages which are famous for Paragliding.
